Preprint: does intention predict engagement?

David and Chiara are co-authors of a preprint that applies the Digital Health Engagement Model to ParentText. Using baseline data and tracked engagement from 1,034 caregivers of adolescent girls in South Africa, Investigating intention to use as a mediator of associations between behavioural determinants and caregiver engagement with a parenting chatbot in South Africa examines how intention mediates the link between behavioural factors and real use of the chatbot.

Abstract

Despite potential benefits of delivering digital health interventions (DHIs), engagement rates remain low. This study adopted the Digital Health Engagement Model to investigate how intention mediates the influence of behavioural determinants on caregivers’ engagement with ParentText, a parenting chatbot designed to promote positive parenting and improve adolescent health.
